The History of Tinden

The Store is a Cultural Journey in Itself

The building environment - quays, cabins, piers, boathouses, outbuildings and residential buildings - represents an authentic building environment where the architectural expression can be traced back to the reconstruction of the site in 1883.

The product range in the store is a cultural journey in itself. Here you can see products that are reminiscent of a bygone era.

Saltworks

In Salteriet, a documentation centre has been established that shows the history of the site from the Neolithic period to the present day. The oldest documents shown are from 1567. Ownership of the site since 1830 is presented in text and images.

The preservation and rehabilitation of the site under the auspices of the current owner, Stiftelsen Tinden Handelssted, is duly documented in text and photos.

Tickets

An area ticket must be purchased by everyone who visits the listed site during the opening hours/summer season. The area ticket is a joint contribution to the preservation of the site and entitles you to use the site's facilities - viewing centre, café, toilets, quays, outdoor areas, etc. Guided tours must be arranged with the staff.
