Some of the country's richest fishing grounds are found off the coast of Vesterålen. Fishing has taken place here for hundreds of years. There is therefore a lot of coastal history in a visit to the old fishing villages on the outer coast. After the fishing trip, we'll take you to the venerable fishing village of Skipnes.

Many people visit Vesterålen solely because of the excellent fishing opportunities. The most common species are cod, saithe and haddock, but it's also possible to catch salmon, sea char and sea trout, mackerel and halibut - and at great depths: redfish.
